There comes a point when the software that keeps your operation running becomes untouchable. The company that built it is gone, changed its team or stopped responding in time. Every change is frightening because nobody knows what might break, and the project knowledge left with the person who wrote it.

How I approach it: from audit to maintenance
A five-phase process to move from 'can't be touched' to 'evolves normally'. Each phase has a concrete deliverable and you can stop at any of them.
- Audit: I review the code, the architecture, the dependencies, the deployment and the access, and hand you a report with the real state and prioritised risks.
- Stabilisation: I fix the urgent things (security holes, critical dependencies, breaking points) so the project stops being a time bomb.
- Documentation: I write down the architecture, the deployment process and the key decisions, and recover control of the credentials.
- Evolution: from there, new features and improvements with a fixed proposal, scope and timeline in writing.
- Maintenance: ongoing support (updates, backups, monitoring and support) so it does not end up neglected again.
What the initial audit includes
The audit is the entry point and does not tie you to anything else. When it is done you have an actionable report, whether you continue with me or not.
- Review of the architecture and the state of the code: coupling, tests, technical debt.
- Inventory of dependencies and frameworks, with outdated versions and security risks.
- Review of the deployment: where the software lives, how it is released and what single points of failure it has.
- Access audit: domains, servers, repositories and third-party services, and whose name they are in.
- Final report with prioritised risks, estimated effort and a stabilisation plan.
Timeline and price
The initial audit starts from 500 € and is usually delivered in one or two weeks, depending on the size of the project and access to the code. That amount is deducted if we then continue with stabilisation or evolution. Stabilisation and maintenance are quoted with a fixed scope once there is a report.

Frequently asked questions
Do you need the source code to get started?
Yes. The audit needs access to the repository or, at the very least, a copy of the code and the deployment information. Part of the initial work is precisely helping you recover that access if a third party holds it today.
What if the code is in bad shape and is not worth maintaining?
I tell you in the report, with reasons. Sometimes the sensible option is a phased rewrite, reusing what works. Stabilising first lets you make that decision without rushing and without stopping the operation.
Do you work with any technology?
I work with web and backend projects in the most common stacks, and with Android apps. If your project uses a technology I do not master and it is not reasonable for me to take it on, I tell you in the audit instead of learning at your expense.
How much does the audit cost?
From 500 €, depending on the size of the project. That amount is deducted from the later work if you decide to continue. Stabilisation and evolution are quoted separately, with a fixed scope.
Can I hire just the audit and the stabilisation, without maintenance?
Yes. Each phase is independent and you can stop wherever you want. Ongoing maintenance is an option, not a condition.
